Fish that are – or have been – part of our family.

Bill, Ben and Angel

Growing up Victoria had a couple of tanks full of fish (because her Dad had one, so she wanted one). Most of the fish were just "fish" except three of them... Bill, Ben and Angel. Bill and Ben were enormous identical Goldfish, and Angel was an actual Angel fish. Sorry, we have no photos of them. They didn't last as long as they should have... Someone gave us a fish that wasn't well and it infected all our fish so they died one after another. Bill and Ben were the last to go... Angel was among the first.

Smash, Snatch and Bert

Victoria was given a Goldfish who somehow managed to smash his way out of his own bowl, and was no longer wanted by the people that had him. We decided he needed some friends, so we brought him a couple. The first fish was called Smash (because of the whole smashed bowl thing), the second Snatch (in honor of how quickly Smash was "snatched up in a sweetie jar" when his bowl broke) and the third one was called Bert (it just seemed like a good name to Victoria at the time... Hey, she was 9!) We haven't got photos of them though, sorry. Like a lot of fish they didn't last a terribly long time. They didn't do too badly though... They lasted almost a whole year.

Kian

Kian

This is Kian. One of our 'foster fish'. He technically belonged to our honorary sister, Elizabeth, but we had him for most of his life. Kian is a Gaelic name that means "ancient" but we know for a fact he was named after Kian from Westlife (Elizabeth's favorite band). We've never had a fish last as long as Kian did!

Katie

Katie

This is Katie. One of our 'foster fish'. Katie originally belonged to a little girl named Shireen (Victoria’s Mam’s Goddaughter), but we had her for most of her life. The name Katie is a Greek name that means "pure" but we know for a fact she was actually named after a friend of Shireen at the time. She did well for a fish... Better than most of the fish we’ve had!

Comet

This is Comet. One of our fish. Named for the fact he kind of looks like one, and was always zooming across the tank. Unfortunately, Comet didn't live very long... Maybe a couple of weeks? He was one of the fish in the tank when my fish all got white spot one time.

Seren

Seren

This is Seren. One of our fish. Seren is Welsh for "star" and Victoria just thought that was a good name for a fish. Seren didn't last long... A couple of weeks, maybe? Seren was another white spot victim.

Nemo

Nemo

This is Nemo. One of our fish. Nemo is a Latin name that means "no one" but Victoria named him after the Nemo in the Disney movie "Finding Nemo" because she thought it would be cool to have a fish named Nemo. Nemo didn't live very long... Only a couple of weeks, since he also got white spot

Flounder

Flounder

This is Flounder. One of our fish. Named after the fish from Disney's "The Little Mermaid" to go with Nemo, because Victoria thought it would be cute. Flounder didn't last very long... He died within a couple of weeks of us getting him (also from white spot).

Alpha and Bravo

Alpha & Bravo

These are Alpha and Bravo. Two of our fish. They are kind of hard to tell apart, but Bravo is the one with slightly less orange on his head. They got their names because of how similar they look... "A" and "B" basically. They only lasted a couple of weeks before they died when all my fish got white spot.

Alex

Alex

This is Alex. One of our fish. We called him Alex - which is a Greek name that means "defender of mankind" – because it was a unisex name, and though we say “him” he could have easily been a “she” for all we know. He only lasted a few weeks before he died from white spot.

Cody

Cody

This is Cody. One of our fish. Cody means "cushion" and is a Gaelic name. He got the name because we wanted a "C" name to go with Alpha and Bravo, but didn't want to use Charlie because of the fact we had the budgie called Charlie, and we liked the name Cody (plus, it's unisex, so if he was a she it would have been OK). Anyway, Cody only lasted a few weeks as well, because he was one of the fish in the tank who got white spot.

Blue

Blue

This is Blue. One of our fish. Named for the blue patch he has. Like most of our fish, Blue only lasted a couple of weeks. You guessed it, Blue got white spot too!
