Squawker AKA Snowy

Snowy was Victoria’s Nan's budgie, she'd called him "Squawker" but Victoria didn't like the name, so she changed it to “Snowy” when the bird was given to her after Jessie died (see the “hamsters” page for details about Jessie). Victoria didn't have him - at least, we think it was a him - long though, because he (or she) died soon after she got him. Victoria’s Nan had had him a couple of years so it could have been age, though it is possible it was an accident after he hurt his leg and was struggling to hold the perch properly. Sorry, no photo.

Rosie

Rosie was a Cockatiel that Victoria got after Snowy died. She was named for the brightness of those red patches on her cheeks. We didn't keep her for long though, because she wouldn't stop squawking if nobody was talking to her, so she was taken to the pet shop and exchanged for a pair of budgies. Sorry, but we haven’t got a photo of Rosie.

Born: 1997

Rehomed (technically): 1997

Diamond And Gem

Diamond and Gem were a pair of budgies we got in exchange for Rosie from the pet shop Rosie came from. Diamond was pure white, and Gem was grey, white and yellow, but we don't have a photo to show you of them. Diamond was named for her (or his?) pure white colouring, but Gem was just named Gem because it went with Diamond. They were rehomed after we discovered Victoria’s Mam had a bad feather allergy.

Born: 1997

Rehomed: June 1999

Charlie's Angel

Charlie

Charlie belonged to Victoria’s brother, Wayne, from when he was a baby. then became our budgie when he was about two years old. About a year and a half later, he died. He was named for the movie "Charlie's Angels" by Wayne, but the rest of us just called him “Charlie” all the time. We're pretty sure his death was caused by stress, which is a common killer in birds.
